The Teaching Commons Conference is a free, in-person event held on campus at Paul Brest Hall that brings together people from across Stanford University for professional development, networking, and socializing around undergraduate and graduate teaching and learning.

2025 Teaching Commons Conference: Flourishing Together

Overview

The Teaching Commons Conference will be held in person on Friday, April 25, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Paul Brest Hall on the Stanford campus. Please note that this conference is entirely in-person.

The conference includes multiple panel discussions, remarks from campus leaders, a campus partners fair, and various concurrent sessions. Concurrent sessions include interactive workshops and lightning talks. We will also provide breakfast, lunch, and a closing reception.  

Themes

The conference theme of flourishing together examines the interdependent relationship between teaching and learning, and educators and students, to work together towards mutual thriving that can transform teaching and learning experiences at Stanford. 

  • Elevating Student Voices: Focusing on amplifying students' perspectives, empowering student contributions, and advocating for students' roles in shaping impactful learning experiences.
  • Cultivating Connections Between Teachers and Learners: Examining ways to strengthen empathy and communication between educators and students to build a collaborative educational environment.
  • Partnerships Across Campus: Promoting interdisciplinary collaborations to enrich academic communities, emphasizing the breaking down of silos and fostering campus-wide collaborations.

All members of the Stanford community are invited to attend. Conference attendance is completely free.

Call for proposals

All Stanford community members are invited to submit proposals to share their work at the Teaching Commons Conference on April 25, 2025, held in person on campus at Paul Brest Hall. Proposals are due by Tuesday, March 25, 2025, by 5:00 PM.

Location and parking

The conference takes place at Paul Brest Hall, located at 555 Salvatierra Walk, Stanford, CA 94305. Food will be served in the Rehnquist Courtyard outside of Paul Brest Hall.  

The closest parking is at Wilbur Field Garage, 560 Wilbur Way, Stanford, CA 94305.
