Scite

Scite is an AI-powered literature review and citation analysis platform.

Scite is an AI-powered research tool to evaluate scientific literature, allowing students and faculty to see how research papers are cited—whether they are supported, contrasted, or mentioned by other publications. It can improve literature reviews, verify research reliability, and avoid fake or improper citations.

Stanford University Libraries provides Scite.ai to all Stanford faculty, staff, and students with a full-service SUNet ID.

Scite features

  • Smart Citations: Researchers use it to instantly evaluate if a paper's findings have been supported or contradicted, rather than just relying on raw citation counts.
  • Literature Reviews & Search: It acts as an AI research assistant to speed up the process of finding and understanding relevant academic literature.
  • Reference Checking: Faculty and students use the "Reference Check" feature to analyze bibliographies for accuracy and to ensure they are not citing retracted or heavily criticized work.
  • Browser Integration: Stanford users can use Scite.ai browser extensions (Chrome/Firefox) to see citation context while reading papers online

The tool is aimed at increasing efficiency in literature searches and ensuring that research is built on solid, verifiable evidence.
