The Freshman Year

The Freshman Year

Freshmen arrive at Stanford during the week prior to the first day of classes. They will engage as a group with many activities that welcome them to the Stanford community, allowing them to meet other student colleagues in the Class of 2019 and helping them to acclimate to their new home. As their Pre-Major Advisor, you will be one of the first people they meet at Stanford, and you will serve as one of their first introductions to the joys of a life of the mind. Some of your advisees may be brimming with questions and stories, having waited many months for your meeting to occur. Others may seem overwhelmed by the experience of embracing change. Regardless of how each seems to you at the outset, all are privileged to gain you as an advisor and will look to you to encourage their explorations, particularly when success seems more difficult than they might have imagined.
