Preparing a Final Student Assessment

At the end of the quarter, in addition to your comments on your student's final revision, you may want to compose a final assessment for each student.

Canvas's Grades feature serves this purpose in one way by allowing students to track their progress in the course in real time across the quarter.  It helps them understand their grades and how those grades contribute to their final grade for the course.

Some instructors supplement with a final written assessment.  This document summarizes the student work in the course (including grades and brief overview comments for each assignment) but is interested in helping the student understand his/her progress through the course and identify key learning that s/he can transfer into other contexts.  Such a final assessment is not required by the Program, but many students find it extemely helpful in getting a holistic understanding of their work in the course and setting goals for the future.
