About Teaching Commons Events

Like the Teaching Commons as a whole, Teaching Commons events are organized and facilitated by people across the university in many different roles. We are invested in fostering a strong culture of teaching and learning. Who are Teaching Commons events for?

For all Stanford instructors and those interested in teaching and learning, including faculty, staff, TAs, graduate students, and so on. Teaching Commons events offer a place to refresh your ideas, problem-solve, and be inspired. All Stanford affiliates are welcome!

Do I have to come the whole time?

No. For the Symposium, we encourage participants to pick and choose the sessions that are most useful. For the conference, come for the whole event or whatever part of it works best for you. For course clinics, feel free to drop in any time to ask any questions and for general discussion.

Do Teaching Commons events count towards the Postdoc Teaching Certificate?

Yes! Teaching Commons events do count toward training hours for the Postdoc Teaching Certificate.

The Teaching Commons Symposium, Conference, Course Clinics, and all other Teaching Commons events strive to be a collaborative, positive learning experience for all, regardless of age, body size, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity and expression, physical appearance, race, religion (or lack thereof), sexual orientation, or technology choices. We do not tolerate harassment of event participants in any form.
